About hk prize

The HK Global Development Prize is a HK$5,000 competition to gather innovative ideas on how to further develop Hong Kong’s role in international development, with the winner given an opportunity to present their submission to key development stakeholders. Organised by Generocity, this is a unique chance to take part in shaping Hong Kong’s future on the global stage.

Sergio Garcia’s pockets will be a little bit fatter after he secured the LIV Golf Hong Kong Open title on Sunday at Fanling. The Spaniard, who won with a score of -18, earned a top prize payout of $4 million. His team, Fireballs GC, finished at -37 as well to win the team trophy.

In commemoration of the centenary of the Department of History in 2012-13, a capital fund was established to provide in perpetuity two prizes for outstanding students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. One of these is named in memory of Professor George B. Endacott who was responsible, virtually single-handedly, for the re-establishment of the Department after World War II and was also instrumental in establishing Hong Kong history as a respectable field of scholarship in the 1950s.

This is the sixth year that the award has been presented to celebrate excellence in teaching and research in Hong Kong studies. It is a prestigious honour to be awarded, and the winners will have their work exhibited at the Goethe-Institute and Black Box Studio in 2024.

As the flagship event of the Society for Hong Kong Studies, this coveted award seeks to recognise the most distinguished research in the field of Hong Kong Studies. It is intended to encourage researchers to further explore the unique status of Hong Kong in Asia and its importance as a centre for the study of Asia.

The winner will receive an engraved gold medal and a cash prize of HK$25,000, and will be given the opportunity to present their paper at the 2023 ICAS Convention in Singapore. The convention is an international academic conference for the discussion of issues related to Asia, bringing together scholars, civil society representatives and practitioners from all over the world.

This is the second year that this prize has been awarded. It is a recognition of the most outstanding research published in Hong Kong-related literature in any subject in the past 10 years. Interested Fellows are welcome to submit their papers for consideration. Please see the official website for details and submission guidelines. The competition closes on 30 November 2019.
